Because of Microsoft’s partnership with Franklin University, the full version of Microsoft Office is available to you free of charge if you have an active account. The download includes the latest versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more. These applications may be installed on up to 5 devices.

- Students: Access to this software is reserved for those currently taking courses. Former students and Alumni will likely no longer have access to this software.
1. Login with your Franklin account information at http://portal.office.com/account
2. Click Install Office
3. When you click install, a file will be downloaded, usually titled OfficeSetup.exe. You may have to look in your downloads folder to run the program. Or it will show up in the top right-hand corner if you're using Chrome.
4. Once you run the downloaded file, you may see the following window asking if you want to allow the file to run; click Run.
5. Then, you'll see the following window showing you the install status of the software suite.
6. You can also check the installation status via the Microsoft 365 logo in the taskbar's system tray.
7. When the installation is completed, you will see a message as shown below. Click Close below this message.
8. On your computer, open a Microsoft 365 application such as Word using your start menu once the installation window has been closed.
9. You will be asked to sign into your account on this initial launch. Make sure to use your Franklin University email address when signing in. If your Franklin University account is not listed, you can hit Change Account.
- NOTE for Students: You will need to use their full email address (<username>@email.franklin.edu) format.
- NOTE for Staff and Faculty: staff and faculty will need to use their full email address (<firstname>.<lastname>@franklin.edu) format. Some staff and faculty users have email aliases that are shorter (<username>@email.franklin.edu), but will not be recognized by Microsoft for licensing.
10. If you needed to Change Account (see prior step) you will be asked for your Franklin email address to sign in to. Then click Next.
11. Enter your Franklin password and click Next.
12. You will be asked if you want to sign into all Microsoft apps and websites with this account. This is a personal choice, but if you are unsure, you can select No, this app only.
13. You will need to accept the privacy policy by clicking Close.
14. You can verify you are signed in with your Franklin University account via the profile picture in the top right. This profile picture can be with your uploaded custom image or initials.
15. If you signed in with your Franklin account, you are ready to start using Microsoft 365. If you are not signed in with your Franklin account, you can hit Sign in with a different account and then reference step 9 in this guide.
