This document explains how to send and receive faxes via the Franklin virtual fax system directly from your Franklin email.
Sending: Any student or employee can send an outbound fax from their Franklin email account. A virtual number is not required for sending faxes as an employee of the University.
Receiving [Full Time Staff and Faculty Only]: To receive a virtual fax through your email, a virtual fax number will need to be assigned to you by IT. If you don't have a virtual fax number or do not know what your fax number is, please contact the Help Desk.

Sending a Fax
1. Within your Franklin University email, compose a new message.
2. In the “To:” field, type the 10-digit phone number of the fax you want to send to, and then “@fax.franklin.edu.” For example: 6145551234@fax.franklin.edu
3. Type the message you want to fax in the body of the email. You can also attach a Word document or PDF to the email and send it. Anything that appears in the body of the email and in any attached documents will be converted to a fax.
4. Click “Send”. This process will convert your email into a fax message to be received at the phone number that was specified.
Please note: It can take several minutes for the fax to go through.
Receiving a Fax
If you have a virtual fax number assigned to you, any fax message sent to you will be received in your email inbox with a PDF attachment. The email will be from "The HylaFAX Receive Agent." The fax format is 614255XXXX@fax.franklin.edu. If you are in need a setup to receive fax, please reach out to the Help Desk.
