Audience: Franklin University members that need to use live closed captioning for Zoom meetings.

Instructor Procedure
The instructor is responsible for scheduling the Zoom class meeting and turning on Zoom Live Transcriptions. Be sure to speak clearly and not too quickly. Keep an eye out for non-verbal feedback asking you to slow down your speech pace.
- Schedule the Zoom class meeting through Canvas, as seen here: Scheduling and Hosting Class Meetings for Instructors within Canvas. By default, the University has enabled the Live Transcription feature.
- Start the meeting at the scheduled time that requires Live Transcriptions.
- Once in the meeting select "Live Transcript" from the bottom menu and then select "Enable Auto-Transcription".
- You will now see live transcription appear along the bottom of the screen.
- You can view the steps below to view, hide, or adjust the accessibility settings the only difference is you will need to select the carrot or up arrow on the "Live Transcript" button.
Student Procedure
Students will need to install the full Zoom Desktop application and sign in. This can be completed by following the steps, via Installing and Signing into the Zoom app. Once this is completed after you join a meeting your instructor should enable the Live Transcriptions. Once enabled you can use the "Live Transcript" button from the menu to view, hide, and accessibility settings.

These settings are as follows:
- Show Subtitle
- The transcript will appear as video subtitles at the bottom of the video frame.
- View Full Transcript
- The transcript will appear in a side-panel Transcript window, and the full transcript to that point may be saved by clicking Save Transcript. Host and attendees can also search the transcript by entering text into the Search transcript field at the top of the window.
- Subtitle Settings
- Opens the settings to change the appearance of closed captions.
