What is Copilot?
Full-time staff and full-time faculty at Franklin University have access to Microsoft Copilot. Microsoft 365 Copilot uses AI to quickly find information, summarize emails, chats, meetings, and documents, draft and rewrite content, analyze data, and automate routine work across Microsoft 365 applications (Teams, Word, Outlook, and more). Copilot securely searches your files and files in our organization (that you have access to), messages, meetings, and other work content you already have access to, helping you to save time, stay organized, and make more informed decisions.
Copilot is an approved AI tool for our faculty and staff to use as it meets our security and privacy standards. Other AI tools may not. Please consult with the Help Desk before using another AI tool!
How to Use the AI Meeting Recap Feature
One of the most common uses of Copilot is to capture meetings for the AI recap and note taking that Copilot does.
1. Record and transcribe the meeting. Recording is required for the AI recap work.
2. After the meeting is over, allow up to 30 minutes for the recap to generate.
3. Go to the Calendar view in Teams.
4. Double-click to open the meeting object on the calendar.
5. Use the Recap tab on the top of the meeting to view the recap.

You can access Copilot in applications such as Outlook and Word using the icon for Copilot. This icons will show up either in the ribbon of the application, or in the lower right hand corner of the application.
