Overview of Changes to FranklinWORKS Marketplace Authentication
Starting November 1, 2024, The FranklinWORKS Marketplace has transitioned to a new authentication provider.
- If you signed up for taking courses through the FranklinWORKS Marketplace before the date listed above, you were given a username and corresponding account. You will continue to use that account when logging in.
- If you sign up to take courses from November 1, 2024 onward, you will have the option to either use your Google Account for authentication or to sign up with a personal email address.
Based on criteria below (see next section of this article), you may be asked to relink your account. Please read on to understand why you may be asked to relink your account, or how to complete the relinking process.
Why Could I Be Presented with Account Relinking Options?
Account relinking is the process to tie two accounts or methods of authentication together. Depending on how you first accessed your account for Coursera courses, relinking may be necessary to avoid progress disruption. The following are reasons account relinking may be necessary:
1. You previously accessed Coursera using an email or Google account before signing up at the FranklinWORKS Marketplace using the same account email.
2. You signed up for a FranklinWORKS Marketplace account and were given a FranklinWORKS account rather than using your own email address or Google account to sign up.
- Process that applies to accounts that originated before November 1, 2024
- Style of such account like a username: demo0002 -or- demo0002@email.franklin.edu
3. You have used different websites for when authenticating into Coursera such as Coursera.org in one instance and using the FranklinWORKS Marketplace website in another instance.
4. You have used a single Google email account for more than one option to access the FranklinWORKS Marketplace.
How to Relink my Account
The relinking process is explained using the FranklinWORKS Marketplace log in. Screens may look somewhat similar to this when presented with relinking options from coursera.org, but the process may vary slightly.
1. Click on the Log In button on the FranklinWORKS Marketplace website.
2. If you are presented with the following screen after having already accessed your Coursera courses before, relinking might be necessary.
- If you recently signed up for Coursera courses through the FranklinWORKS Marketplace and this is your first time seeing this screen, then simply click I'm a new Coursera user to proceed as intended. Otherwise, proceed as directed below.
3. Select Forgot Password
4. Enter your email address and select Send Password Reset.
- For those who signed up for accounts prior to November 1, 2024, enter your Franklin email. Your Franklin email uses the format: [username]@email.franklin.edu.
- For those who sign for accounts from November 1, 2024 onward, enter the personal email address or Google account used when signing up to take Courses.
5. Log into your email. Use the link in the email you receive from Coursera to reset your password. To clarify, the password change in the step above sets your password to coursera.org. This doesn’t change your password to the FranklinWORKS Marketplace, but instead links both accounts together.
- For those who signed up for an account prior to November 1, 2024. log into https://mail.franklin.edu with your username and password to check your mail. For the first-time login, you might need to set up multi-factor authentication as a part of our security practices.
6. Navigate back to and click on the Log In button on the FranklinWORKS Marketplace website.
7. You will be taken to the Coursera login page, enter the new password (that you just set) and click Continue.
8. If presented with this screen, click Re-link account to relink your accounts.
Important: You should only be presented this option anytime there is an account change. However, for best results, logging in the same way every time will reduce the likelihood of being presented with relinking options frequently. For best results, use the same authentication methods at the FranklinWORKS Marketplace website each time.
