A Canvas Access Token (a.k.a API key) is a special credential that allows applications to access Canvas on your behalf.
Important: An Access Token should be treated like your Franklin University password. Any application or service that receives your token may be able to access the same Canvas information you can see. This has large implications to your FERPA-protected data.
Before sharing a Canvas Access Token: Please consult the Help Desk to ensure:
Never share a token with:
- Unknown vendors
- Browser extensions
- AI tools
- Individuals requesting it through email or chat
If you think you shared a token: Contact the Franklin University Help Desk so we may revoke the token.
