The New Gradebook Overview
Welcome to the New Student Gradebook! We have completely redesigned the gradebook to make it easier for students to find important information about their grades, feedback, and stats such as the course min or max score on an assignment. We also focused on making feedback easier to find by putting it all in one place! See how it all works below.
Navigation
The new Gradebook can be found by locating a course tile on your BlueQuill homepage and then clicking the icon outlined below. This will take you directly to that course's gradebook.
Once you've opened the Gradebook, there will be a button in the top, right-hand corner of the screen that allows you to switch to the old gradebook design. This will be available for a short time to allow students to smoothly transition into the new design.
Now if we look at the gradebook below, there are some neat features to checkout.
Section 1 above shows your current grade out of the points possible so far and then next to that you can also find your grade out of the points possible in the entire course.
Section 2 shows you where you currently are on the grading scale.
Section 3 shows you a breakdown of all assignment points, with what you have earned displaying on top and the points possible displayed on bottom.
Now we can take a look at the grading portion of the Gradebook.
You can tell you have a new grade to view and feedback when the orange "new" icon shows up and when "more about your grade" turns orange. If you have already viewed a grade, the new icon will disappear. Likewise, if you view your feedback, the orange outline will disappear as well.
Next to each graded assignment, if you received a score then you will see how many points you earned, your grade percentage, the name of the assignment, as well as the due date.
Now let's open the "more about your grade" section to learn about feedback!
Feedback
Clicking the "more about your grade" icon next to an assignment will cause a popup screen to display. This popup window has a Feedback and Statistics tab to flip through.
When you have new feedback to view, that new piece of feedback will have the orange "new" icon displayed. The top piece of feedback here has already been viewed, but the audio recording is new to this student.
From this tab, students can find all feedback, including text comments, audio/video feedback, file uploads, re-shared submission files, and even rubrics! Rubric grading updates will show you exactly which row of criteria was updated for easy tracking.
Assignment Statistics
Now, if we click the Statistics tab, you can see a nice breakdown of the class's max and average scores as well as the standard deviation for those scores.
