Opening a Meet Session
Accessing a Meet session has not changed. There are two ways to open up a session.
The first way is from your course's Apps menu:
- From your course, click on the Apps menu at the top of the page.
- Now click on the Meet tool.
The second way is from a course object with "Meet" turned on:
- Open up the course object that contains a meet session.
- Click on the "Meet" button.
- This will cause Zoom to open up in a new browser tab.
Now you can begin joining your session:
- From here, click on "Join" to open up the meeting room. Make sure you select the right meet session, as all of your meet sessions for this specific course will show up here.
- If you have never used Zoom before, then a new tab will open up asking if you want to join the meet session from within your browser or if you would like to download the desktop app.
- If you wish to download Zoom to your desktop, click on the "download and run Zoom" link.
- After running the download, you will automatically join your meet session. It will look something like this:

Downloading Recorded Sessions
Instructors have the ability to record each Meet session so that students can later download either the video or just the audio file. These recordings take time to render before they can be downloaded, so, after a meet session is over, wait at least an hour before checking back for the recording.
To download recorded sessions:
- From your course, click on the Apps menu at the top of the page.
- Now click on the Meet tool.
- This will cause Zoom to open up in a new browser tab. The default tab, labeled "Upcoming Meetings", shows any reoccurring or upcoming meet sessions your professor has planned.
- Click on the "Previous Meetings" tab to access a list of past meeting sessions. If your instructor recorded the meet session and the video is ready to download, then you can click on the link "Recording Details" to open up the recording files.
- You should now see a screen like the one below, where you can choose to play the audio or video files by clicking on the play buttons. Sometimes, a meet session may have more than one recording (for example, if the session ended due to internet problems).
- To download the recording, click on the "Download" button in the top, right-hand corner of the screen.
