Gateway Overview
The Franklin Gateway mobile app allows students to quickly and easily interact with their undergraduate BlueQuill courses, personal information, and university resources. This app offers students the ability to view all course information as well as perform basic actions, such as reply to discussion posts, view grades, view course materials, and more. While the app cannot completely replace the need for accessing BlueQuill on a computer, the app lets students stay up to date with their courses and assignments on the go.
To download the app, you can either search for "Franklin Gateway" in the Google Play or Apple Store, or you can follow this link here:
Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.foxhound
Apple Store: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/franklin-university-gateway/id1259482723?mt=8
After downloading the app, you can log in using your normal BlueQuill credentials.
See the video below for a quick tutorial of this feature:
Let's take a look at what you can do with the Gateway app.
The Home Page
After logging into the Gateway app, users will see a home page similar to this:
There are 5 different sections outlined above that we will go over in detail.
- Personal and Term Information
- The first section here displays your name, student ID, the current term, how many days are left in the term, and a tap-able term calendar to view the dates of other important terms.
- Tap on the pencil icon next to your name to edit your phone number and address.
- Financial Information
- This section shows the student's GPA and any financial information about the current term. You can see financial information for other terms by tapping on the arrows to the left and right of the current term.
- Tap on the hand icon to open up the financial tool. See more information on using this tool in our article, Financial Information.
- Here is a quick example of what the financial view looks like:
- Courses
- This is where students can find a list of all of their courses that they are currently enrolled in. At this time, only current courses appear here, not past or upcoming courses.
- Students can see their current grade, when their next assignment is due, and how many notifications are present for the course (this may include discussion post activity, grades, and feedback).
- Tap on any course to open up the course's home page and assignments. See more information on navigating courses below.
- Resources
- This section contains all sorts of useful tools and links to resources, such as:
- Manage Notifications: Turn off/on Gateway notifications
- myTools: A tool to let students perform many functions, such as view transcripts, grades, financial information, register for classes, and more.
- LiveMap: View a live, 3D map of the university and important locations on campus.

- This section contains all sorts of useful tools and links to resources, such as:
- Settings and Info

Course Pages
Tapping on any course from the Gateway home page will take you to the course's page, where students can find assignments, reply to discussion posts, view grades, and feedback. Here's an example of what one course looks like:
There are a few important things to note here from the course's view.
- Each row represents a container, which holds a series of assignments, discussions posts, and more.
- The blue text in the top-right hand corner of each container displays how many points you have earned out of how many points are possible for that container.
- The orange speech bubble displays how many unread posts there are in a discussion forum.
- You can also see how many assignments have been graded, how many are due soon, and how many total objects there are within the container.
- The green check mark next to the amount of graded assignments indicates that you have viewed all of your graded submissions. An orange check mark means you still have a graded assignment to review.
Course Objects
Course objects are what hold all of the assignments, discussion posts, and course communications for a course. Currently, students are not able to upload submissions through the Gateway app, but they can view all assignments and reply to discussion posts. Let's open up the object below to see what discussion posts look like:
- Tap on a learning object to view it's content.
- Once you open up a learning object, you will see the object's start and end dates, how many points it's worth, the estimated time needed to complete the assignment, which tools are active for the object, and the object's content.
- Note that this object has both the Discuss and Meet tools activated. Sometimes you may see the Submit tool, but this only indicates that an assignment requires a submission. Submissions cannot yet be uploaded through the Gateway app.
- Note that this object has both the Discuss and Meet tools activated. Sometimes you may see the Submit tool, but this only indicates that an assignment requires a submission. Submissions cannot yet be uploaded through the Gateway app.
- If we click on the "Discuss" button, then we will be taken to this screen where we can view/collapse the discussion topic by tapping on "Description".
- If we tap on the orange speech bubble, we will be taken to the list of discussion replies. Form here, you can either click "Reply" to reply to a post, or click "Respond to Topic" to post your own response.
- From the response screen, you can type up your answer and tap on "Post" to submit your response.
Meet Sessions
If a course uses Meet sessions, then students can access these sessions from their course page in Gateway.
- Access your course's page from the home screen and tap on the Meet button at the bottom of your screen:
- This will open up the Adobe Connect tool in a browser tab like so:
- If you do not have the Adobe Connect mobile app, then follow the link above to download it.
- If you do have the Adobe Connect app, then simply tap "Open Adobe Connect Mobile" to be taken to your class's meet session.
- This is what the mobile Adobe Connect classroom will look like:
- From here, you can perform most of the classroom actions on the left-hand side of the screen, as well as raise your hand by tapping the icon in the top, right-hand side of your screen.
