Not Authorized Error
When attempting to create a lab reservation via the appropriate links in Canvas while using the Chrome or Firefox browser, you may receive the following error message - "You are not authorized to perform the requested function."
One of the potential causes of this issue is elevated security protection included in common web browsers. Both Firefox and Chrome have elevated security settings that can cause this issue.
Follow the steps below to resolve the issue in your browser.
Chrome Browser Resolution
- Open your Chrome Browser.
- Click the customize option on the browser toolbar, followed by settings.
- Locate and click on "Privacy and Security".
- Click "Security".
- Change the Safe Browsing setting from "Enhanced Protection" to "Standard Protection".
- Save your changes.
Firefox Browser Resolution
- Open the Firefox browser and connect to https://netlab.franklin.edu.
- Locate the shield icon beside the URL field. Click on it.
- Locate the "Enhanced Tracking Protection" switch and toggle it to "Off".
- The Icon representing the Enhanced tracking feature should change (see image below).
